A leading scientific facility in the UK is seeking a Software Developer to support the redevelopment of their Structural Biology LIMS. This role involves designing and developing new features using modern web frameworks like React and NextJS. Candidates should have strong experience in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, along with a degree in engineering or computer science. Diamond offers a flexible work environment including hybrid working options, 26 days of annual leave, and exceptional benefits to promote work/life balance.
Software helps to enable the world-leading science performed at Diamond. Our software systems facilitate operations at all levels, including the low-level control of synchrotron and beamline hardware, the planning, execution and monitor of experiments, data archiving and retrieval, data processing and visualisation, the application for beamtime, and capture of remote experiment plans and samples. Our software engineers work alongside our scientists to develop innovative and robust solutions to keep Diamond at the forefront of scientific research.
We now have an opportunity for a Software Developer within Diamond’s Scientific Information Management Systems (SIMS) group to support and redevelop the Structural Biology LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) used within Diamond.
Synchweb - our existing system for the visualisation of Macromolecular Crystallography (MX) and CryoEM data - is highly regarded by our scientific users around the world and is used in cutting-edge drug discovery and other research. Developed in-house and in concert with the ISPyB collaboration it is a critical component in the collection and interpretation of MX and CryoEM results at the facility.
Synchweb is approaching the end of its life, and we are taking on the exciting challenge of building its replacement, Evo - built using modern web frameworks and taking cues from other modern applications in use at Diamond. Evo is part of a multi-million pound refresh of software applications and services required to support the new science anticipated from our £500m major facility upgrade.
