Job description
Learning Support Assistant – Progressions (Temporary until June 2026)

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant – Progressions – Temporary (to June 2026)
Closing Date: 5th January 2026
Pay: £23,555 – £24,346 per annum (pro‑rata) – pay circa £8,016 per annum depending on experience and qualifications
Hours: 15 hours per week, 36 weeks per annum (Part‑time)
Location: Redditch (may be required to visit other campus sites)

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting young people and vulnerable adults in a classroom and on a one‑to‑one basis. You should be able to provide high‑quality, personalised learning support, work collaboratively with teaching staff, and be committed to safeguarding, equality and diversity.

Key Roles and Accountabilities
  • Provide one‑to‑one and/or group work interventions to enable learners to engage and achieve identified goals.
  • Support the delivery of specialist foundation programmes for learners with autism spectrum conditions, mental health issues, emotional and behavioural difficulties, severe, moderate and mild learning difficulties, and other special needs.
  • Ensure learners with support needs are fully engaged with Learner Services and reinforce College attendance policies.
  • Assist with admission activities such as recruitment, enrolment and assessment of support needs.
  • Assist with the delivery of entry screening, initial diagnostics and use results to inform Personal Learning Plans, set targets and monitor progress.
  • Liaise with curriculum staff, LSDO TAVs, PLCs and external agencies to target support within learning sessions.
  • Plan, implement and measure the impact of one‑to‑one and group work, evaluating effectiveness and driving continual improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of information and interventions, ensuring all administration is completed promptly.
  • Contribute to the negotiation, monitoring and support of individual learning objectives.
  • Ensure learning support procedures align with best practice for safeguarding, Prevent, equality, diversity and Health and Safety.
  • Support the attainment of Functional Skills for supported learners.
  • Provide incidental personal care support where necessary.
Attainment & Qualifications
  • Level 2 (or higher) qualification in both Maths and English, or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in support services for young people and vulnerable adults – e.g. education, social services, NHS or mental health.
  • Experience providing classroom and one‑to‑one support.
  • First Aid trained, or willingness to undertake training and keep up to date.
  • Fire Marshal duty trained, or willingness to undertake training and keep up to date.
  • Willingness to provide incidental personal care support where necessary.
  • Ability to work within a team, provide read‑and‑write support, and support learners with autism spectrum conditions, profound/multiple learning difficulties, moderate/mild learning difficulties, behavioural difficulties, and mental health difficulties.
