Job summary
A communications firm in Cardiff is looking for an Engineering Technician (Electrical, PLC) to join their Manufacturing/Process Engineering Team. This entry-level position focuses on routine and preventative maintenance of production equipment, requiring a strong electrical background and teamwork skills. Candidates should be motivated with a commitment to safety and quality, and experience with PLC software is a plus.

This position reports to the Engineering Production Leader and is part of the Manufacturing/Process Engineering Team located in Cardiff, UK and will be an on-site role.
Please note: for advertising purposes the job title is Engineering Technician, if successful, your official and internal job title would be Multi-skilled Engineering Technician.
- Carry out routine / preventative maintenance activities on all production equipment.
- Be production focused, react to unplanned equipment breakdowns, process changeovers, health and safety actions, and machine setup.
- Be involved in installation qualifications, risk assessments, PUWERs, and LOTOs.
- Work with process engineering to monitor equipment performance, and strive for continuous improvement.
- Apprenticeship (or equivalent formal qualifications, NVQ 3 / HNC / BTEC) in production maintenance manufacture with an Electrical background.
- Works well under time-bound pressure as part of a team, and independently.
- Highly motivated, with a strong focus on Safety, Quality, and Delivery.
- Experience in mechanical maintenance.
- Experience with PLCs - able to interrogate and modify PLC software (Siemens / Mitsubishi).
