This is a Fixed Term/Secondment vacancy until 31/12/2027 to meet the needs of the service. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Support Worker to join the Ceredigion School Nursing team. This is a fixed term post working 22.5 hours per week, term time only.

• Provide efficient, effective and comprehensive administrative and clinical support to the School Nursing Service under the direction of the Clinical Team Leader.
• Carry out visits to schools as part of the Child Measurement Programme (CMP) to weigh and measure children and young people.
• Support the nursing team in the delivery of health interventions e.g. immunisation programmes, health education sessions.
• Plan, organise and prioritise own workload, while accepting direction and delegation from higher level administrative staff, clinical staff and managers.
• Exercise good judgement, tact and discretion when dealing with patient inquiries, providing basic identification of needs within the scope of the job and providing nonclinical advice to patients and relatives about admissions and appointments as authorised by the clinical team and team leaders.
• Support administrative staff with general office duties such as photocopying, faxing and printing, handling of post, making and sending appointments, filing as agreed with the Professional Lead.
• Support the preparation of relevant documentation for the CMP including preparation of consent forms when required.

The School Nursing service is part of the wider Children's Health services which provides Community based services for children and young people (aged 5-19 years). The school nursing service works with stakeholders across a number of settings and organisations to lead delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (5-19) to improve child health outcomes and ensure that families at risk are identified at the earliest opportunity.

The school nursing service is a workforce of specialist community public health nurses who provide expert advice, support and interventions to families with children and young people between 5–19 years and help empower them to make decisions that affect their future health and wellbeing. This service is led by school nurses and supported by a skill‑mix team. The Health Board is committed to supporting staff to embrace bilingualism to enhance patient and service user experiences.

Language requirement: Ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this post. The Health Board offers various learning options and staff support to further develop Welsh skills if needed.

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent.
• NVQ Level 3 Childcare or equivalent.
• Childcare experience, voluntary or paid.
• Welsh Speaker Level 3.

• Ability to use a number of office software programmes.
• Experience using CH 2000 computer programme or equivalent.
• Experience working in a caring environment.
• Awareness of Child Protection Procedures.
