A national educational body is inviting applications for the role of External Verifier for Marine Engineering qualifications. The position involves verifying qualifications to ensure standards are upheld. Applicants should have relevant experience in Marine Engineering and must be active in delivering or have recently delivered related courses. Training in the role will be provided. This role allows for additional professional development opportunities and requires negotiations for release from current employer if necessary.
Applications are invited for the post of External Verifier for SQA’s suite of HN Marine Engineering qualifications and units (VG 217).
An External Verifier is responsible for external verification and qualification approval activities under the conditions, timescales and arrangements set by SQA. The prime role is to participate in verification of qualifications in the subject areas concerned to ensure that standards are maintained.
Applicants will be expected to have relevant experience, and knowledge of the courses and units to be verified. In addition applicants must be currently delivering or have recently delivered in these courses or closely related courses.
Applicants must be prepared to participate in training and or professional activities to meet continuing professional development requirements. The successful applicant must hold or be prepared to work towards the relevant External Verifier Learning & Development unit as this is an SQA requirement.

Should an applicant require release from their employer (Scottish colleges only), they should discuss this fully with appropriate personnel within the centre before making an application. Up to 5 days release is anticipated in the annual contract period with additional time in applicants' own time also required to fulfil the duties of this post. However, this can be negotiable.
After successful completion of SQA's Induction the applicant will receive training in the role and work within a team of subject professionals.
