The successful applicant will have a minimum of 3 years' HSE experience, ideally within onshore construction, along with relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH level 3. This role involves promoting HSE practices, coordinating safety inspections, and liaising with contractors to ensure safety compliance. The work pattern is Monday-Friday, with 10 hours a day based onsite.
Duration: 02-Feb-2026 - 31-Jan-2027 (Options to extend)
Business Unit: QHSE
Location: Hitachi Construction Site, Main Road, B1113, Swardeston, NR14 8DU
Rotations: Monday-Friday, 10 hours a day
IR35: Inside IR35
The HSE advisor promotes and provides professional expert knowledge and guidance to managers, supervisors, employees and contractors on safe work practices, safety standards, and legal regulations, and supports identification and elimination of potential hazards and ensures control measures are in place.
Line Reference: Head of Regional QHSE Advisors, Europe
Project Reference: Project QHSE Director, & Project HSE Manager
It is generally the expectations that the advisor can apply advanced HSE skills to the position; has experience within subject area and knows fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures related to HSE and knows how to routinely apply knowledge of theories, methods, techniques, and processes to scope of work.
The QHSE function is not the exclusive owner of HSE and therefore does not hold the authority to determine HSE performance on its own. However, a HSE Advisor is a subject matter expert and can therefore contribute to decision-making based on personal level of understanding of the business and the interdependencies with other departments.
The role is onshore site based at the Converter Station & Battery Storage facility (BESS), near to Swardeston and is expected to work on site or at the site office daily. The role involves HSE support to the Converter station construction, HSE support to the construction of the Battery Storage facility (BESS) and HSE support to the Norwich Main / National Grid interface. The construction projects are at the same base location. Main scope of works currently being undertaken are the Mechanical and Electrical commissioning phase of the projects.
Travel expenses are not chargeable to the base location. However, flexibility is required for occasional off project site visits for company and supplier internal/external meetings, which may also be overseas.
