Key Responsibilities
- Execute inclusive, and on-time, Environmental Impact Assessments (including amendments/variations/appeals/etc), and other applicable studies, to support Construction and Operational requirements.
- Obtain necessary environmental authorisations (based on Full scoping EIA or Basic Assessments).
- Engagement with funders, that include amongst others: African Development Bank and World Bank
- Undertake first level assurance reviews on projects that have EAs and Integrated Environmental authorisations (IEAs) for pre-construction, during construction and during operational phase as well as assisting with the closing of findings.
- Consolidate Gx comments on new EIA-related legislation and provide influential responses to the corporate or directly to the authority, on time.
- Provide Decision Notes related to environmental authorisation processes, to Gx projects.
- EIA Awareness Training for Gx Environmental Practitioners
- Conduct EIA related incident investigations in support of Environmental Incident Classification Committee (EICC)
- Compile Gx EIA status report
- Conduct level 1 internal reviews on authorisations and lenders requirements for pre-construction, construction, and operational phases
- Support power stations to engage authorities regarding authorizations’ conditions
- Provide environmental support and advisory service.
- Minimize financial and legal risks to Eskom.
- Ensure Eskom complies with legal requirements.
- Monitor and measure environmental performance.
Qualification(s)
B Degree/B Tech/Advanced Diploma in Natural Sciences/Environmental Management at NQF7 with 360 credits
