A local care provider is seeking a proactive and friendly personal assistant in Galashiels to support a young adult with Autism. The role involves engaging in outdoor activities, attending swimming lessons, and fostering independence. A background in mental health is ideal. Skills
A young adult who has recently moved to Galashiels with his family is looking to employ a friendly, fit, proactive PA to support him to get out and about exploring as he loves going outdoors. The role would involve going to swimming lessons, walks by the river, visiting museums, especially anything to do with the military. The role would be ideally suited to someone with a working experience and understanding of Autism and a background in mental health.
- Hours per week: 3 hours a week, 1.5 hours twice per week to start with.
- Hours of work: times/days to be discussed with client.
- £13.00 per hour.
- Mileage/expenses paid when out with the client.
- Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
- Probationary period of 6 months
- To support a young adult to help ensure their safety and well-being.
- To support with general care needs and developing independence skills.
- To develop a positive relationship with the young adult.
- To interact with the young adult building confidence in the community and sourcing new outdoor activities.
- Exploring historic buildings, museums together.
- Kind and caring, sensitive to the client’s needs

- Ability to use your own initiative
- Willingness to engage with a young adult and identify care needs.
- Ability to work sensitively, respecting the client right to privacy and to always maintain professional standards of confidentiality
- Ideally a driver with Business Insurance
- PVG/References desirable
