Job summary
An employment agency in York is seeking a Temporary Finance Assistant to support their finance team during a busy period. The ideal candidate will have experience in finance roles, be confident with accounting systems and Excel, and possess strong organisational skills. Key responsibilities include month-end reporting, maintaining records, and managing ledgers. This role offers a salary of £28,000 - £32,000 and is accessible from various surrounding areas. Immediate availability is preferred.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Finance Assistant or similar role.
- Confident using accounting systems and Excel.
- Organised, detail-focused, and proactive.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Support month-end and general finance reporting.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with reconciliations.
- Manage purchase and sales ledger activity.
- Complete bank reconciliations and support VAT processes.
- Liaise with payroll providers and internal teams.
- Provide general finance support as required.

This role would suit someone who is comfortable picking things up quickly and supporting day-to-day finance activities during a busy period. The position is paying the equivalent of £28,000 - £32,000, with some flexibility around working arrangements!
- Supporting month-end and general finance reporting

We would be keen to speak with individuals who are currently in a Finance Assistant, Finance Administrator, Accounts Assistant, Accounts Officer, or similar role. You will need to be a team player who is confident speaking on the phone, with an excellent telephone manner.
The role is easily accessible from York and surrounding areas, including Leeds, Harrogate, Selby and Tadcaster, with good public transport links.
