Main duties of the job

To support the day‑to‑day administration and maintenance of the Trust's CareFlow and BigHand systems, ensuring accurate and timely data management as part of the Digital Solutions and Applications Team. Responsibilities include delivering user training to staff at all levels, providing first‑line support and guidance, and assisting with the preparation of documentation and training materials. The role also involves supporting data quality initiatives and coordinating both scheduled and ad‑hoc tasks to ensure effective system operation and user satisfaction

About us

Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon Urgent Care Centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead.

Established in 2005, we were one of the first foundation trusts in the country and since then have consistently achieved the highest levels of care for patients.

As a group we employ around 4,200 staff and currently provide 600 hospital beds across Gateshead. Our primary focus is on providing excellent general health services to our local community complemented by key specialist areas including gynaecology, maternity, palliative care and old age psychiatry.

Alongside a full range of local hospital services, we provide breast screening services for Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland and parts of Durham - and we are the North Eastern hub for the National Bowel Cancer and AAA Screening Programmes, covering a population of around seven million people.

Job responsibilities

To assist in the day‑to‑day administration of the CareFlow and BigHand systems, including delivery of user training for all levels of staff. To provide standard and ad‑hoc information as required.

  • Provide day to day administration of the CareFlow and BigHand systems.
  • To maintain the content and quality of information within the CareFlow system.
  • Deliver training across all CareFlow modules and configure new user accounts ensuring appropriate levels of access are observed.
  • To assist in the preparation of documentation and training guides.
  • Act as first line support for system users providing advice and guidance, resolving software problems where possible.
  • To produce of a wide range of timely, verified information to meet ad‑hoc requirements.
  • To ensure scheduled and unscheduled work is coordinated effectively to completion within time scale.
  • Ensure through appropriate validation and audit procedures that information produced is based on accurate, timely and comprehensive data collection.
  • Act upon own initiative with regards to issues/problems/trends relating to the day‑to‑day administration of the systems
  • Assist with the ongoing specification and implementation of the CareFlow system across Trust departments.
Person Specification
Education
  • Able to demonstrate recent interest in own personal development
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
Experience
  • Detailed working knowledge of Acute Health Sector Systems
  • 3 years experience of working in the NHS
  • Capable delivery training programmes to all levels of staff
  • Working across organisational boundaries
  • Working knowledge of computer based and other types of information systems, data collection and validation
  • Experience of working operationally on CareFlow or BigHand Systems
