Description Overview

We are currently recruiting for two Shift Manager positions, one day shift and one night shift.

A member of the shift management team reporting to the Production Manager, the jobholder leads production operations at Braunton on shift and provides site coordination during out-of-office hours.

The jobholder’s reports include Team Managers from manufacturing and packing, with total direct and indirect reports numbering approximately 100 production staff.

Responsible for achieving safety, quality, volume, cost and behavioural expectations of one’s team, decision making and timely escalation relating to deviations where required.

The role includes responsibility for training, appraisals, attendance reviews, leading disciplinary investigations and supporting recruitment of the team.

Being a key position within the production team, the job holder is expected to facilitate collaboration between departments and drive continuous improvement.

Scope of the Role
  • Assures the safety of operations on shift by ensuring respect for Perrigo safety systems and influencing positively the behavior of one’s team.
  • Accountable for achievement of quality in shift production operations, including QE First Responses, Investigations, CAPA, and change controls.
  • Manages people and resources to deliver the production plan and meet consumer demand.
  • Motivates team to meet and beat targets (safety, First Time Right, production plan, changeover times, cost improvement projects, attendance).
  • Support timely review of documentation.
  • Develops and implements training plans for the team.
  • Plans for succession and skills replacement within the shift.
  • Completes one-to-one reviews, return to work interviews, appraisals, attendance reviews, and disciplinary investigations.
  • Acts as site coordinator and senior manager outside business hours.
  • Manages Production Department in absence of Production Manager.
  • >Conducts handovers and provides shift cover when required.
  • Undertakes other reasonable duties to support the business.
Experience Required

Required:

  • 5 GCSEs (grade 4 or equivalent), Level 2 Maths and English.
  • Competent in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety principles.
  • At least 5 years’ experience managing multi‑function shift operations (team of 50+).
  • Proven ability to deliver KPIs (safety, quality, output, cost, behaviour).
  • Supervisory experience, ideally in FMCG.
  • Demonstrated company core values and performance pillars.
  • Clear communication skills; able to influence others.
  • Degree in science‑based subject.
  • Experience in regulated environment.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience (Green Belt or higher).
