At St Patrick’s we work to instil a sense of respect and value – of the world, for people and for self. We believe in achievement for all, where every child is aspirational, thinks for themselves, has high expectations, resilience, autonomy and fosters a ‘can do’ attitude. Our staff and children see themselves as active learners, being part of a learning community that seeks to inspire and motivate each other to be the best that they can be.

Learning Support Assistant

Hours: 21.25 hours per week (4.5 hours per day) - (inclusive of 15 minute unpaid break). Required for 5 days per week - 08:30 – 13:00/39 weeks per year

Start Date: TBA

The Governors of St. Patrick’s Catholic Primary School wish to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join our successful school.

We are seeking to increase the capacity to our school support team and are looking for an inspiring Learning Support Assistant with the necessary skills/experience or willingness to learn to work with our children. We require someone who has patience and will nurture the children in their care, get to know them but also be firm and consistent with expectations.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be enthusiastic and dedicated
  • Becaring and energetic
  • Be able to work as part of a team
  • Have a good standard of English and Maths
  • Be willing to attend training

St Patrick’s can offer you:

  • A school environment which is friendly and welcoming
  • Continued professional development and training
  • An opportunity to be part of a strong and dedicated staff team who are committed to high standards

Interview will include: planned task delivery and a formal interview.

Shortlisted candidates may be subject to online searches.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and for ensuring that they are protected from harm. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Safeguarding: Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities: Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
