Overview
As a Senior Producer, you’ll be a key member of Black Sheep Studios. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Producer with a production company background to join a fast-growing team, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to produce global campaigns for BBH’s brands and Black Sheep Studios’s own clients, working with some of the industry’s best Creatives & independent Directors.
Responsibilities
- You will produce end-to-end production, from helping the Agency Producer ballpark the creative, to submitting bids for our freelance Directors and scoping post production.
- You will pitch independent Directors for each job, tailoring the Director list to the creative brief and putting fresh talent forward for each pitch. You will also run the triple bid process, ensuring each Director has their best chance of winning by sense checking their treatments and providing them with the correct support they need - whether that’s bringing in a Writer, Image Researcher or Layout Designer to help elevate their treatment.
- As well as budgeting the shoot costs, you’ll also budget and manage post-production across multiple Black Sheep Studios jobs alongside the Agency Producer. You’ll work with the Director to ensure they’re working with the Editor of their choice, and if they’re not available, you will have the knowledge to suggest alternative Editors. You’ll have good relationships with post houses in the UK and Europe and will get competitive quotes for each job, as well as ensuring the Director is happy with the Colourist, Flame Op or Sound Engineer.
- When you scope and manage your budgets, you’ll use your negotiation powers to make cost efficiencies at every opportunity, maintaining profit margins without compromising the creative or Director’s vision.
- You will create and manage the production schedule, ensuring all key milestones and deadlines are hit and working with the agency producer to make sure your schedule aligns with the client’s.
- You will oversee the invoicing and payment process with vendors with the help of our Production Assistant, who will assist you with raising POs and setting up new vendors.
- You are happy to work in a fast-paced production environment, able to juggle multiple productions, and confident in managing Production Assistants & Production Managers on your jobs.
- You will thrive on uncovering new talent and have your finger on the pulse with this, as well as maintaining great relationships with Director’s Reps who are our most useful resource for finding independent Directors. It’s important to us that the creatives get exposed to global emerging talent as well as the best the independent Director landscape has to offer.
Qualifications
- You are positive, personable and optimistic with excellent communication skills and the confidence to build great relationships with internal and external suppliers.
- A creative problem-solver that brings solutions to the table. We never say no without offering an alternative solution or approach.
- You have the ability to protect and grow both the Director and agency Creative’s vision for the project, whilst building and maintaining a great relationship with your Agency Producer.
- You will have a solid production black book of Directors, crew and suppliers in the UK and beyond, and get excited at the prospect of constantly building on this.
- Experience of working with service companies overseas - we are very lucky that our productions take us all over the world so experience of filming overseas and overseeing a service company on a production would benefit this role greatly. It also helps at the scoping stage as if a budget doesn’t stretch to shooting in the UK then you will have a solution to shooting it in a more affordable country, or if winter sun is required for a creative, you will have plenty of suggestions up your sleeve for this.
- You always remain positive, calm and motivated, inspiring colleagues to maintain a similar attitude and always maintaining your composure.
- You are confident in managing a wide range of budgets from £50,000 up to a million pounds.
- You’re open and willing to share your knowledge of industry developments in production with the team as well as the wider agency.
- Knowledge of APA rates and rules. We always adhere to APA rates and APA rules on our productions so knowledge of this is important.
- You have good knowledge of post-production and a good network of freelance editors and post houses.
