We're seeking an exceptional mathematics leader to join us at a pivotal moment. With new headship driving rapid improvement across the school, this role offers significant autonomy to shape a department that serves over 1,200 students from Key Stage 3 through to A-level Further Mathematics. For the right candidate, membership of the Senior Leadership Team as an Associate Member is available, providing valuable senior leadership experience and accelerating your career progression.

Your Department: You'll lead a dynamic team of mathematics specialists working in purpose‑built facilities:

  • A fully staffed team of committed mathematics teachers, combining experienced practitioners with energetic Early Career Teachers
  • Three TLR post holders providing established middle leadership capacity and expertise
  • Dedicated specialist classrooms for both main school and sixth form teaching
  • A new, ambitious curriculum spanning KS3-5, including A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics
  • Well‑resourced schemes of work with high‑quality teaching materials already in place
  • The department is on a clear improvement trajectory. Having recently appointed this strong team and invested in curriculum development, we're now looking for the inspirational leader to take us to the next level and beyond national standards.
  • In this role, you will:
    • Lead and inspire a talented team, building on strong foundations to achieve excellence
    • Drive curriculum innovation and pedagogical development across KS3-5
    • Develop and mentor your three TLR holders and ECTs, creating the next generation of mathematics leaders
    • Shape strategic direction with genuine autonomy to innovate and implement your vision
    • Collaborate with our Trust Director of Mathematics and subject hub network across four secondary schools
    • Contribute to whole‑school leadership (particularly attractive for those joining SLT as Associate Members)
    • We invest significantly in our leaders:
      • Tailored CPD programme designed to accelerate your progression to senior leadership
      • Access to Trust‑wide leadership development and collaboration with colleagues across 12 schools
      • Dedicated support from our Trust Director of Mathematics
      • Regular participation in our secondary mathematics subject hub network

For successful candidates joining the SLT: direct senior leadership experience including strategic planning, whole‑school initiatives, andboard for further promotion. You'll gain the experience, networks and support needed to progress to Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, or beyond.

You Are: An outstanding mathematics teacher with proven impact in the classroom; an experienced middle leader ready for headship of a large department, or an aspiring leader with second‑in‑department experience seeking your first Head of Department role; ambitious to progress into senior school leadership and seeking the platform to do so; committed to ensuring all students achieve their full potential in mathematics; collaborative and skilled at building high‑performing teams; excited by the challenge of leading a department through its next phase of improvement.
