A UK-based charity is seeking a volunteer Virtual English Teacher to work one-on-one with a Saharawi refugee child, focusing on conversational skills and confidence in spoken English. Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience teaching English, ideally in one-to-one settings.

Responsibilities
- Conduct virtual sessions with a Saharawi refugee child twice a week.
- Prepare conversation topics and new vocabulary for each session.
- Help improve the student's listening and speaking skills.

Sandblast Arts is recruiting a volunteer to serve as a one‑on‑one English teacher for a Saharawi refugee child, helping them build conversational, listening, and speaking skills.
Sandblast, a UK‑based charity, launched the Desert Voicebox program to train Sahrawi women to teach English and music to primary school children in refugee camps. The Virtual English Speaking Buddy initiative now pairs children (ages 10–16) with volunteers for online sessions focused on building confidence in spoken English.
- Meet virtually with a Saharawi student ideally twice a week for 30–45 minutes to engage in relaxed conversation, encouraging them to express themselves.
- Spend 10–15 minutes preparing each session, planning conversation topics, new vocabulary, or short homework activities.
- Help the student improve listening and speaking skills, building confidence and preparing them for further education or job opportunities.
- Commit approximately 2 hours per week to this role.
- 3+ years of experience teaching English, preferably one‑to‑one.
- TEFL/TESOL certification highly preferred.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic teaching environment.
- A friendly, patient nature and experience supporting shy or less confident children to express themselves.
- Expert level fluency in English.
- At least six months of experience in English tutoring or teaching.
