Job description
🤔 About the Role:

We’re looking for a Senior Product Engineer to help shape and scale the core technology behind Suvera’s virtual clinic. As a key member of our engineering team, you’ll work at the intersection of healthcare and technology—building reliable, user-friendly tools that empower clinicians and enhance patient care. You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, analytics and clinical colleagues to create thoughtful, scalable solutions that support the delivery of chronic care across the UK.

This is a high-impact role within a fast-growing healthtech startup, offering the opportunity to influence both what we build and how we build it. You’ll be joining a team that values technical excellence, thoughtful collaboration, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Competitive salary of £70–90k per annum (DOE), plus equity and up to 33 days holiday allowance, in addition to bank holidays.

Please note that a Disclosure will be requested in the event that you are successful and are offered & accept a role with Suvera. The DBS Code of Practice which governs these checks can be found here.

👋 About Suvera:

Suvera is transforming healthcare with a mission to keep people in good health, wherever they are. Partnering with UK general practices, we deliver a virtual clinic that supports patients with long-term conditions. Currently, we manage over 100,000 patients. Our ambitions are global, and we’re just getting started.

Our advisors include luminaries like Professor Bryan Williams, a leader in high blood pressure research and guidelines in the UK. We are a diverse team of about 60 people, including clinicians, care advisors, and experts across various disciplines.

Backed by Google for Startups and Morningside Ventures, Suvera is poised to become a global leader in healthcare.

💻 What you'll be doing:

Build seamless, scalable systems: Design and develop reliable software across our TypeScript monorepo (SST, Node.js, Vite/React). You’ll focus on clean architecture, robust testing, and efficient tooling—helping us ship stable, secure code at speed while enabling future growth.

Deliver cross-functional impact: Work closely with clinicians, designers, and product managers to build intuitive user experiences that improve patient care. You’ll help translate real-world clinical, patient and partner needs into elegant, maintainable technical solutions.

Own the full stack: From frontend interfaces to backend services, infrastructure, observability and monitoring - you'll be responsible for end-to-end delivery. Our modern tooling (including SST and serverless architecture) means you can focus on building features, not wrestling with deployment complexity.

Stay hands-on and pragmatic: This is a deeply technical role. While you’ll influence architecture and mentor others, the majority of your time will be spent writing code, reviewing PRs, and continuously improving the development workflow.

Champion engineering quality: Drive high standards in testing, observability, and performance. You’ll help refine our engineering practices—through code reviews, team ceremonies, and hands‑on collaboration—so that we can build with confidence and move fast without breaking things.

Shape the team’s culture and growth: Support other engineers through pairing, mentoring, and feedback. You’ll help foster a culture of openness, curiosity, and continuous learning—and play a key role in how our engineering team evolves.

👀 We're looking for someone who:

Should have:

  • Has worked at least 4 years in product focussed engineering roles, and is fluent in TypeScript
  • Has experience working in a cross functional platform team
  • Has a strong understanding on how to develop scalable, reliable, secure and accessible applications
  • Sees the value and pace that comprehensive automated testing unlocks, and is excited to build a robust product at speed
  • Wants to grow with the company and be part of creating the engineering culture at Suvera
  • Is keen to support and mentor team members
  • Is excited to work in the office one day each week to collaborate with the team, while enjoying flexibility to work remotely the rest of the time.

Nice to haves:

  • Comfortable partnering with analytics teams to define success metrics, measure impact, and learn from outcomes
  • High level understanding of a modern data team’s stack - we use Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Mixpanel and Omni
  • An interest in infrastructure and observability—especially in complex, event‑driven systems (we run on AWS)
  • Familiarity with MongoDB or experience working with healthcare data systems and standards
🤔 About the Tech Team

Our tech team aims to create seamless technology that improves patient experience, empowers our in‑house clinical team and supports our partners to automated proactive care at scale. Our architectural decisions are intentional, with a focus on developer experience when working full stack. Using CI/CD we automate deployment onto Serverless architecture. Our platform data is stored in MongoDB and we have extensive analytics tooling using Fivetran, Snowflake, DBT, Mixpanel and Omni to enable data driven decisions across the business. We have robust monitoring, logging and reporting using AWS Cloudwatch and Sentry, and collaborate using Git, Slack and Notion.

We are very aware that the products we build are relied on to provide care and keep security and stability at the core of everything we build. All of our engineers are full stack and have a solid understanding across the tools and languages we use.

🌎 About our culture:

For Suvera, company culture is not an afterthought - it is a priority. Our diverse team helps us ensure we consider everyone’s experience of accessing healthcare when building our product.

The wellbeing of our team is key, and our policies reflect it. We offer up to 33 days annual leave, and encourage and enable flexibility and autonomy over your work. We are non-hierarchical in our ideas, processes and decision-making — if you have an idea, we want to hear it. Always.

The way we work is remote‑first. In practice, this means our whole company is set up around not requiring a meeting to make decisions. We have an asynchronous approach to work which encourages documentation and async comms.
