A prominent veterinary practice in Manchester is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon for their Out-Of-Hours Team. This position offers the chance to grow professionally while enjoying a balanced lifestyle. Ideal candidates should have surgical proficiency, a focus on client and patient care, and potentially specialized qualifications in Emergency and Critical Care. Outstanding benefits include 6.6 weeks of annual leave, CPD allowance, and staff discounts. Enjoy a supportive environment with ample opportunities for progression.
Are you a dedicated and experienced vet looking for a role that offers both professional growth and a balanced lifestyle?
Consider joining a large, supportive practice that boasts excellent facilities and a prime location near Liverpool, Manchester, and the stunning countryside of Wales and the Lakes.
This tier 3 hospital is not just any practice; it’s a training ground equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including digital X-ray, ultrasound, various scopes, dental radiography, CO2 laser, laparoscopic equipment, a 64-slice CT scanner, and a 1.5T MRI scanner.
The role calls for an experienced vet to join the Out-Of-Hours Team. This position is perfect for someone who is client and patient-focused, with a keen interest in working up cases to a high standard. Surgical proficiency in common procedures presented during out-of-hours is essential, as is the ability to monitor hospitalised inpatients. A passion for Emergency and Critical Care is highly valued, and additional qualifications in ECC are a significant advantage. You will be working alongside a brilliant team of two RVNs overnight, and individual progression is strongly encouraged, with many of the vet team either studying for or having completed their certificates.
The rota is designed to offer a balanced schedule, with 7 nights on and 7 nights off, allowing ample time to plan life around work. Shifts run from 8:30 pm to 8:30 am. The practice covers out-of-hours for its own 10 sites plus another six veterinary practices and maintains a close working relationship with the referral side of the practice.
The benefits are outstanding, including 6.6 weeks of annual leave inclusive of bank holidays (23 shifts per annum), a £1,750 CPD allowance, and paid memberships to VDS, RCVS, and BSAVA/BVA. The salary is commensurate with experience, and additional perks include a great staff pet discount scheme, maternity/paternity/adoption pay schemes, and optional private medical insurance and a Health Plan.
You must be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon and eligible to register with the RCVS to be considered for this role.
