The Faraday Institution is the UK’s independent institute for electrochemical energy storage research, skills development, market analysis and early-stage commercialisation. It brings together research scientists and industry partners to work on large projects with commercial potential that will reduce battery cost, weight, and volume; improve performance and reliability; and develop whole-life strategies including recycling and reuse. The organisation manages large research programmes across 25 universities and spanning a network of 500+ researchers and 140+ industry partners across the UK.

Working within the Research Programme team, this role will support the wider FI team with collation of key outcomes and data across the research portfolio, such as tracking of research publications and Intellectual Property, and facilitating research competition and delivery processes.

The role will report to the Research Programme Director and will work closely with the Research Programme Managers, Technology Transfer Principal and International R&D Partnership Manager and key members of the projects as well as other members of The Faraday Institution team and wider community. Key relationships will be with Programme Managers, Operations team, individual Project Managers and other members of the research projects.

• Through supporting delivery of inspirational research projects, enable the Faraday Institution to deliver world class early-stage research in electrochemical energy storage with the potential to be translated and scaled up by industry to deliver environmental and economic benefits.
• Co-ordinate the monitoring of KPI’s for both the projects and FIHQ, working with stakeholders across the research projects to ensure data is captured and updated.
• Managing the cross-project databases for Publications and Intellectual property, ensuring updates to an agreed cadence.
• Facilitate future research competitive calls for sprints and fellowships, working with our operations team to set-up Flexigrant, schedule and co-ordinate review process, collating and administration of feedback processes.
• Co-ordination of the processes of assessing funding applications, and the arrangement of assessors and review panels.
• Support the delivery of sprint and fellowship research projects, scheduling, co-ordinating and capturing actions for quarterly meetings.
• Support the collection and compilation of information for annual or quarterly reporting processes.
• Support continual improvement of the programme management process by suggesting improvements to current processes and implementing for greater efficiency.
• Build relationships with our community of researchers, project managers and co-ordinators
• Support the Faraday Institution Research Programme Managers and Director, Technology Transfer Principal and Director and International R&D Partnerships Manager.

• An appreciation of the science, engineering, economics and social benefits of batteries and other forms of energy storage. Degree/MSc in a related technical subject.
• Experience of project management delivery, lean/agile projects and appropriate key performance indicators, with a focus on delivering improvements with minimum paperwork/ bureaucracy.
• Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management tools, experience in data visualisation
• Strong planning, analytical and communication skills.
• Experience with engaging (or at a minimum the ability to engage) with relevant sectors including academia, industry, national facilities and other stakeholders.

• Lean mind-set and able to balance short and long-term objectives.
• Engaging behaviour and an understanding of how to engage with a range of stakeholders with different and complex needs.
• Perseverance and sensitivity to deliver a new way of working in an environment accustomed to working at a slower pace of change (academia).

• Location: Blended working from home and based at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, near Oxford, UK, with UK travel required to support research project meetings and possible international.
• Salary: £40k-£55k (depending on skills and experience)
