COULD A BBC APPRENTICESHIP BE THE NEXT ROLE FOR YOU?

Join us as an apprentice at the BBC to give yourself the opportunity to kick‑start your career in a job you’ll love. We’re committed to your skills and talent development. You’ll learn on‑the‑job, developing your knowledge and skills in an area that interests you, while working towards your apprenticeship qualification with one of our learning providers.

WHY JOIN THIS SCHEME?

This is your chance to launch a career at the very heart of British broadcasting. We’re looking for individuals with a passion to find out how we make content and bring ideas to life. Depending on your placement area, you could be working behind the scenes on exciting productions, from gripping dramas to the thrill of live radio, and gain a recognised qualification while learning on the job. This is your opportunity to widen your production knowledge while working on content that matters to millions.

To find out more about the schemes we offer, you can register to join one of our webinars here. Please note that the webinar for this scheme takes place on Wednesday 10th December at 6pm. If you’re unable to attend or have seen this after that date, keep an eye on our webinar playlist on YouTube here where the video will be uploaded.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM?

The Live Music team works across a wide range of BBC and festival events, producing hundreds of live music sessions that put popular music at the heart of BBC output. As a Production Apprentice in BBC Live Music & Events, you’ll be part of the team that delivers iconic music moments such as Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Radio 2 in the Park, 6 Music Festival, and Asian Network Live.

You’ll work closely with a Live Music Producer to learn the ropes of live music production and support the delivery of unforgettable music content. As your skills and confidence grow, you will help produce live music for Radio 1, Radio 2, Asian Network, 6 Music and 1Xtra.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

As a Production Apprentice, this is a brilliant opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute – you could be:

  • Creating production schedules and timelines
  • Coordinating technical requirements for live music recordings
  • Editing music for broadcast
  • Preparing studios for live music sessions
  • Planning and organising live music broadcasts for events

Our mission is to grow audiences by producing impactful and sustainable Live Music and Events for broadcast. This is a unique opportunity to learn from industry professionals and contribute to the BBC’s mission to reflect the musical diversity of the UK.

You’ll be learning both on and off the job. As well as learning on your placement at the BBC, you’ll also attend learning blocks (up to a week at a time) with our learning provider, working towards an industry recognised apprenticeship qualification – Level 3 Production Assistant. Learning blocks will be a mixture of in‑person and virtual delivery.

YOUR SKILLS AND ELIGIBILITY

We’re interested in your passion for working at the BBC and your enthusiasm for delivering world‑class content and operational excellence to our audiences. We’re not focused on your qualifications; instead, we look for potential and offer you the opportunity to apply your transferable strengths and experience to work in different ways.

If you can bring some of these skills and experiences, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply if you:

  • Have a strong interest in live music and event production
  • Are keen to learn and work in a fast‑paced, creative environment
  • Are organised, proactive, and great at working in a team
  • Are flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends when required
