West Midlands Safari Park are recruiting for a Veterinary Nurse to join our Wildlife Team.
This role is responsible for assisting with the veterinary care of all animals in the Wildlife department over a wide range of taxa, providing emergency care as instructed by the veterinary surgeon and by the preventative health care programme.
West Midlands Safari Park is home to a diverse collection of species and is dedicated to conservation, education, and excellence in animal welfare. Our veterinary department provides high-quality medical and husbandry support across a wide range of taxa, from small mammals and reptiles to large ungulates and carnivores. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our dynamic and passionate wildlife team.
As a Registered Veterinary Nurse within our park, you will work closely with our veterinary surgeon, animal keepers, and animal management team to deliver outstanding clinical and welfare support. You will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of care for our animals, contributing to preventative health programmes, diagnostics, anaesthesia, and clinical record-keeping.
Support veterinary surgeon in examinations, procedures, and surgeries across a range of species.
Prepare and maintain equipment, instruments, and clinical areas.
Administer treatments and assist in diagnostics, sample collection, and imaging.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using software system ZIMS.
Contribute to routine health checks and preventive care programmes.
Provide input into staff training, biosecurity, and welfare initiatives.
Assist with research, conservation, and educational projects as required.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable professional with a strong interest in exotic, zoo, or wildlife nursing.
Registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS) qualification.
Demonstrated experience or strong interest in zoo, exotic, or wildlife species.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and public holidays.
Full driving licence.
Experience with ZIMS or similar animal record systems.
Knowledge of quarantine, biosecurity, and laboratory procedures.
Further qualifications in wildlife, zoo, or exotic animal medicine.
