The Operations Director will be responsible for overseeing the end‑to‑end operational performance of our data centre portfolio across Europe. This includes managing facility operations, security and compliance, leading internal and outsourced teams, and driving continuous improvement in service delivery and operational efficiency.

• Develop and execute operational strategies tailored to hyperscale environments.
• Partner with design, construction, and commercial teams to support expansion through engagement throughout the design process.
• Manage uptime and reliability across all facilities to ensure compliance with customer SLAs.
• Lead an accountable and learning culture to ensure incidents are managed correctly and continuous learning across the platform.
• Ensure adherence to hyperscale client SLAs, regulatory standards, and certifications.

• Collaborate with senior leadership on expansion plans, acquisitions, and new site development.
• Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the growth of the platform, client expectations and investor aims.
• Build and lead an operational team to deliver consistent service across European locations.
• Determine the right balance of internal hiring and outsourcing for operations.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Oversee health & safety for all operational sites.
• Build and lead Apto’s Quality function to ensure all relevant certifications are secured at the right time.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and environmental standards.

• Act as a senior point of contact for hyperscale customers regarding operational matters.
• Support commercial teams in client onboarding, contracting, and service delivery and operational reporting.

• Proven experience (10+ years) in data centre operations or critical infrastructure management.
• Strong leadership background with multi‑site operational oversight.
• Experience of working with hyperscalers across Europe.
• Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and IT systems.
• Familiarity with European regulatory environments and sustainability standards.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and decision‑making skills.
• Multilingual capabilities are an asset.
