Associate Partner - DC Pensions (investment or non-investment focus)

Do you want to work for a global market leader where you will manage your own exciting and varied portfolio of clients?

Aon are currently recruiting an Associate Partner to join their DC and Financial Wellbeing Consulting Team.

This role is suitable for someone with either (or both) an investment or non-investment focus and is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from one of our UK offices.

The UK DC pensions landscape is evolving at a rapid pace. Economic challenges, legislative change, an ageing population, and asset volatility pose a wide variety of risks and challenges to DC pension schemes. Trustees and scheme sponsors are faced with a range of decisions on difficult topics from managing risk to improving member engagement, setting an appropriate investment strategy to managing DC plan.

This is a senior position within the DC Team, and you will be expected to drive new business, through maintaining and developing a pipeline of prospects, and contribute to the thought leadership and future strategy of the team.

What the day will look like

You will be collaborating with colleagues across a variety of clients in relation to the full spectrum of DC consulting services, with client interaction and client lead roles strongly encouraged and supported. You will be expected to own projects and drive these forwards (for example, consolidation exercises, review of DC delivery model, member engagement projects, DC contribution reviews, AVC reviews).

  • Understanding and focus on delivering value and good member outcomes, working with clients to achieve this goal
  • Using your strong technical knowledge and experience to proactively build the DC expertise within the team, through training and mentoring of more junior colleagues as necessary
  • Leading relationships with clients (large to mid-market), with accountability for developing those relationships, for example through collaborating and introducing other Aon solution lines
  • Directing large client projects
  • Overall responsibility for quality of technical work delivered to clients
  • Strong participation in meetings externally and internally (showing role model behaviours)
  • Contribute to the thought leadership and future strategy of the business (e.g. leading a specialist team or driving new propositions)
  • Strong focus on growth and securing new business, prospecting for new business and leading client pitches
  • The DC team is represented in several offices around the UK, and it is expected that your role would involve working with teams and advising clients across all of them.

  • Previously worked in a DC pension environment either in an investment or non-investment capacity
  • Track record in leading client relationships
  • Experience of prospecting for new business and leading client pitches
  • Strong focus on growing the client base and revenue
  • FCA or CFA approved status desired
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and comfortable advising Trustee Boards and those in senior company roles at a strategic level
  • Able to encourage and develop other colleagues, and work well within diverse teams
  • Good project oversight, time management and organisation skills
  • Self-motivating and ambitious
  • The range of skills required are quite diverse and we will consider candidates that are stronger in specific areas although the individual needs a sound understanding of DC issues.
