We are seeking General Paediatric Consultants interested in working with the current team to further develop and extend our Integrated Children's Care model within North Cumbria. The role is dynamic and forward‑thinking, encompassing the full scope of a General Paediatrician working closely with Primary Care, Community and Hospital Paediatrics and involving both acute and outpatient duties across the Trust sites. The post holder will be primarily based at West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven, with rotational duties at Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle and WCH.

Proposed Job Plan – see Appendix 1. The post will be flexibly timed to meet service demands, with 2–3 clinics per week, rapid access clinics on a rotational basis, and consultant‑of‑the‑week cover (1 week in 6). The plan will be agreed at the start of appointment.

Full Tier 3 rota with non‑resident on‑calls at Consultant level. The Consultant leads morning ward rounds during the week and on-call weekends.

All appointments are aligned with the Terms and Conditions of Consultant Medical Staff 2003. The Trust supports annual appraisal, revalidation, CPD, mentoring programmes and time‑off in lieu of extra duties.

The post‑holder will be site‑based at Whitehaven, delivering 2–3 clinics per week, rapid access clinics on a rotational basis, and consultant‑of‑the‑week cover (1 week in 6). Initial job plans for each site are outlined in Appendix 1.

• oMRCPCH or equivalent
• Full GMC registration
• Inclusion on Specialist Registrar in Paediatrics (or within six months of inclusion on GMC specialist register)
• Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT or CESR) or within six months of award of CCT/CESR or equivalent by interview

• High standard of clinical skill and expertise in clinical Paediatrics
• Clinical Governance experience
• Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of paediatric problems, both emergency and elective, and in primary care
• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for liaising with clinical staff for patient care
• UK Experience

• Special interest that complements the existing departmental clinical provision

• Participation in on‑call and emergency cover
• Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of Child Health service

• Experience and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff
• Ability to teach clinical and personal skills required for Child Health
