COULD A BBC APPRENTICESHIP BE THE NEXT ROLE FOR YOU?

Join us as an apprentice at the BBC to give yourself the opportunity to kick‑start your career in a job you’ll love. We’re committed to developing your skills and talent. You’ll learn on‑the‑job, develop your knowledge and work towards an apprenticeship qualification with a learning provider.

WHY JOIN THIS SCHEME?

It’s your chance to launch a career at the heart of British broadcasting. We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about discovering how we make content and bring ideas to life. Depending on your placement area, you could be working behind the scenes on exciting productions, from gripping dramas to live radio. You’ll gain a recognised qualification while learning on the job and widening your production knowledge.

To find out more about the schemes we offer, you can register to join one of our webinars here. The webinar for this scheme takes place on Wednesday 10th December at 6pm.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM?

BBC Introducing is a network of creatives, producers, presenters and music enthusiasts dedicated to discovering and supporting emerging musical talent across the UK. It provides a platform for new artists to showcase their work, starting with local radio shows and potentially progressing to national stations.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • Listen to new music in the uploader.
  • Assist with script‑writing.
  • Perform audio editing.
  • Help with live radio shows in the studio.
  • Support events and gigs.
  • Work remotely on another Introducing show or assist at your local BBC radio station.

You’ll learn both on and off the job. This includes placement learning and learning blocks with our provider, targeting the industry recognised Level 3 Production Assistant qualification.

For more information on the apprenticeship standard you will be studying, please visit this link.

YOUR SKILLS AND ELIGIBILITY

We’re interested in your passion for the BBC and delivering world‑class content and operational excellence to our audiences. We’re not focusing on formal qualifications; instead, we look for potential and the opportunity to apply transferable strengths.

If you can bring some of these skills and experiences, we’d love to hear from you:

  • Passionate about music and radio within the scene you’re applying for.
  • Regular gig‑goer active in your local music scene.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.
  • Interested in supporting emerging artists and contributing to music discovery.
  • Available to work evenings and some weekends.

This scheme is aimed at non‑graduates. If you have a degree, you may want to consider other jobs or apprenticeship schemes at the BBC.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
  • Be 18 years old or over by the time the apprenticeship begins in September 2026.
  • Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start.
  • Be legally eligible to work full‑time in the UK for the entire duration.
  • Not currently enrolled in another apprenticeship programme.
  • No prior learning required to apply.

For candidates under 19 years old on 8th September 2026, you must have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4 or above, or equivalent.

READY TO APPLY?

Don’t miss the chance to become part of something exciting. Click ‘Apply Now’ to create a candidate profile and answer a few questions – no CV or cover letter needed.

If you’re eligible, we’ll guide you through the next steps and what to expect.

Make sure you live within a commutable distance of the role. If you’re interested in a different location, check out our other adverts – but only apply to one.

The BBC recognises that some applicants may need to relocate. Relocation support is offered to a limited number of apprentices each year, subject to qualifying criteria.

This is a fixed‑term apprenticeship – your contract lasts for the duration of the scheme.

During your apprenticeship you’ll be supported with career development, employability training, and networking opportunities to help you take the next step – whether that’s at the BBC or elsewhere.
