Why shouldn’t your project use high performance, low energy building systems? We at Buro Happold work as part of a global team, balance client’s aspirations with engineering (and often budgetary) constraints, to design high performance, low energy building systems. We use advanced modelling techniques to analyse the building envelope and its floor layouts. Our innovatively designed systems are then integrated into the building fabric, to create functional internal spaces and balanced, controllable conditions.

• You will embrace the latest technologies to improve performance and sustainability. Sustainable design is top of our corporate agenda.
• Undertake building services design and calculations (using both software and knowledge to verify robust calculations).
• Exposure to preparation of technical specifications and schedules, design development reports and innovative design solutions.
• Involvement in planning and managing input to CAD for production of design work.
• Attend where possible, and shadow at Buro Happold at meetings with clients, other professionals and suppliers.

We would like to hear from you if you are currently studying towards a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Electrical Engineering, Architecture & Environmental Engineering and Engineering Design.

The recruitment timeline can vary depending on the role and team you are applying to. Successful applications are progressed to interview stage within 2-3 months from the closing date of the advert. This is a paid role for current students for a 12-month internship taking place from August/September 2026. Exact dates can be flexible depending on candidate and team availability.

The annual salary for this internship will be in-line with the UK Real Living Wage.
