  • Support the delivery of the School Development Plan by maintaining high operational standards across all facilities.
  • Contribute to emergency planning, risk management, and business continuity arrangements.
  • Ensure daily opening and closing of the site, including gates, doors, lighting, alarms, and fire exits.
  • Monitor the condition of all buildings, classrooms, and facilities throughout the day, addressing maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Carry out or oversee minor maintenance, repair, painting, and decoration tasks, reporting major defects to the UK Head of Estates.
  • Act as the school’s Health and Safety Co‑ordinator and Fire Officer.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety and Fire Safety legislation.
  • Support the Head Teacher to ensure that the school H&S plan is reviewed and updated annually before the start of the academic year and it is effectively communicated to all school staff.
  • Oversee the general maintenance and presentation of buildings and grounds, ensuring they support teaching and learning.
  • Ensure all statutory servicing and compliance checks are completed and recorded (e.g. boilers, alarms, electrical systems).
  • Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of school minibuses, ensuring servicing, MOT, and safety checks are up to date.
  • Manage lettings and external use of school facilities in line with school policies and safeguarding requirements.
  • Obtain quotes and manage small‑scale procurement for maintenance and repairs.
  • Keep up to date with legislation, best practice, and innovations in estates and facilities management.
