Job description
VA543 – Part‑Time Registered Veterinary Nurse

As one of the first spa towns in the UK, famous for its miracle salts, Epsom is also home to one of our GP first opinion practices a short canter away from the racecourse. While you may not get a full spa treatment you will certainly be welcomed with VIP treatment by a settled team, looking for an additional RVN to support them on a part‑time basis.

About your new role!

This part‑time RVN role involving 8.5 hour shifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays would be ideal for a newly qualified RVN due to ample support for a newly qualified RVN. Alternatively, if you have a few years under your belt and want to reduce your hours this could also tick all your boxes.

You will be working alongside a settled team including full‑time vet, full‑time RVN, VCA, and 2 part‑time receptionists providing invaluable front of house support to our long‑term client base, enabling you to focus on your patients.

Your rota will include a 1:4 branch Saturday rotation, and 1:10 Saturday rotation in Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon. You will be rota “d” to 1 bank holiday per year.

There are NO on‑call requirements.

As a branch RVN some of your duties will include:
  • Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care.
  • Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.
  • Maintain comprehensive patient hospitalisation records.
  • Ensure a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.
  • Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly when not in use.
  • Maintain adequate stocks of drugs, diets and consumables and place orders with our suppliers to required levels as necessary.
  • Assist with the induction of new staff and their subsequent training.
  • Provide reception duties, as required, ensuring a friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.
  • Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.
Now let’s get to the nitty gritty, here is what we offer you:

Our RVN salary band is £32,000 to £35,000 FTE (full‑time equivalent based on 40 hours per week) depending on prior experience and allowing room for growth within the role.

  • 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata)
  • CPD budget every year plus up to 2 days’ paid CPD leave (pro rata)
  • Paid 30‑minute lunch breaks
  • The opportunity to join our private medical healthcare scheme at a reduced rate, plus medical cashback incentives
  • Relocation assistance (where applicable)
  • Generous colleague introduction reward (for the introduction of vets and RVN’s)
  • 24‑hour Employee Assistance Programme
  • RCVS and BVNA fees covered
  • The opportunity to join our private medical insurance scheme at a reduced rate, as well as a medical cashback plan involving refunds on many routine medical costs such as dental care, physiotherapy, optician, chiropractic fees, and more
