A conservation organization is seeking an individual for a facilities maintenance role at the WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre. You will lead the day-to-day maintenance of outdoor spaces, houses habitats, and supervise volunteers. The ideal candidate will have a solid practical background in site management, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for nature conservation. The position requires physical involvement and offers 33 days of annual leave plus various other benefits including a contributory pension scheme.
This is a hands‑on role at the heart of our wetland centre, helping to keep WWT Llanelli safe, welcoming, and inspiring for visitors, staff, and wildlife. You’ll lead on the day‑to‑day maintenance of our buildings, habitats, and outdoor spaces – from hides and pathways to play areas and nature reserves – making sure everything is well cared for and ready to enjoy.
You’ll supervise volunteers and contractors, work closely with our conservation and living collections teams, and use a wide range of tools and machinery to deliver practical site improvements. No two days are the same, and your work will directly support wildlife, visitor experiences, and the long‑term health of our wetlands.

This is an annualised hours contract based on an average of 33 hours per week. Salary will be paid in equal monthly amounts.
Hours may vary through the seasons. This position will require work at weekends and some bank holidays.
This is a site‑based role at WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre and is not suitable for hybrid working due to its practical, hands‑on nature.
A full driving licence is desirable for occasional travel to other WWT locations or to collect equipment and materials.
