Overview

MCS Group is seeking an Engineer (Market Systems & Support) with a strong interest in energy systems, data analysis, and problem solving to support the operation of electricity market systems and services.

This role offers broad exposure across technical and commercial areas of the electricity sector, providing an excellent opportunity to develop a deep understanding of power systems, market operations, and stakeholder engagement.

You will work with operational data, support system services performance monitoring, assist with technical and commercial assessments, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The role is varied, busy, and highly collaborative, with opportunities to build experience across market support, automation, and regulatory-facing processes.

Qualifications
  • Background in engineering, power systems, or another relevant technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience

  • Ability to extract, interpret, and analyse data from multiple systems using a range of tools and methods
  • Proficiency in Python (or similar programming languages), with experience in maintaining and developing code
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong awareness of stakeholder needs and industry expectations relevant to the role
