Job description

Job Summary

Applications are invited for 2 x full‑time Microsurgery Fellow Posts in the Plastic Surgery department, to commence in the beginning of January and July 2027 for a period of 6 months.
Post 1: 8/1/27 to 7/7/27
Post 2: 8/7/27 to 7/1/28

A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole‑time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

Main Duties

This post provides the opportunity for senior plastic surgery trainees to gain further experience in microsurgery (particularly breast and head and neck microsurgical reconstruction). Our sub‑specialty teams perform in excess of 200 microsurgical reconstructions per year.

The post holder will support consultants in elective activities, attend specialist MDTs and clinics, and support emergency activities if required The holder will be mentored to develop skills in selecting patients, planning and executing microsurgery reconstruction independently and manage patients post‑operatively.

Essential:

  • Full GMC registration
  • FRCS (Plastic) or equivalent at commencement of post
  • Good communicator

  • Ability to lead a ward round independently

  • CCT (or equivalent) in plastic surgery
