Job overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chief Technical Officer to lead the technical operations of our Radiopharmacy Unit within the Diagnostics and Therapies Division. This pivotal Band 8a role involves overseeing the safe and effective preparation of radiopharmaceuticals for both diagnostic and therapeutic use across UHBW and partner NHS Trusts. As the named Production Manager on the MHRA licence, you will ensure compliance with EU GMP standards, radiation safety regulations, and Trust policies. You will also act as the Lead Radiation Protection Supervisor and Radiation Waste Supervisor, playing a key role in maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will manage and coordinate a multidisciplinary technical team, ensuring efficient service delivery and continuous quality improvement. Responsibilities include staff supervision and development, stock control, documentation, and operational planning. You will lead on service development initiatives, support clinical trials, and contribute to training and education within the department and wider Trust. This role requires a proactive leader with advanced knowledge of GMP, radiopharmacy operations, and regulatory frameworks, as well as excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
