Job description
Business Development & Growth Leader (Europe)

Department: Companion

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: City, London

Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join CompanionCo at a pivotal stage of its growth, working closely with Moore Kingston Smith and other leading European firms, to shape and accelerate digital transformation across a fast-growing pan-European professional services group.

Job Title: Business Development & Growth Leader

Location: Flexible within Europe. This role can be based in any country where CompanionCo operates, with regular travel across Europe.

About CompanionCo

CompanionCo is a pan-European professional services group, bringing together leading accounting, audit, tax, and advisory firms across Europe. Backed by Waterland Private Equity, the group is building a collaborative platform that combines strong local identities with the scale, capability, and reach of a European organisation.

The group includes established firms and current entities include Moore Kingston Smith (UK&I), Moore Belgium (BE), Moore DRV (NL), Auren (Spain) and Moore Intaria (Germany), with further expansion underway across Europe.

Each firm retains its entrepreneurial culture and deep local expertise, while working together through CompanionCo to support clients with increasingly international needs.

CompanionCo’s ambition is to become the leading mid-market professional services provider in Europe, particularly for growing and internationally active businesses. The focus is on practical, high-quality advice, cross-border collaboration, and creating sustainable value for clients, employees, and partners.

The central CompanionCo team operates as a lean, enabling function. Rather than replacing local leadership, it works in close partnership with country firms to support growth, integration, and collaboration across the group.

The Role

CompanionCo is seeking a senior Business Development and Growth Leader to design and drive its organic growth strategy across Europe. This is a group-level role operating across multiple countries, firms, and service lines, with a focus on enabling cross-border collaboration, strengthening commercial capability, and unlocking growth in the European mid-market.

Working closely with country-level Business Development leaders and senior stakeholders, the role combines strategic direction with hands-on execution. It plays a key role in shaping how CompanionCo goes to market as a pan-European professional services platform, while respecting strong local identities.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate, and embed the group’s organic growth strategy across all countries and business units
  • Act as the central connector between country Business Development leaders, aligning initiatives around shared priorities and target segments
  • Enable cross-border business development through joint go-to-market initiatives, international desks, and collaborative sales activity
  • Strengthen business development capability across the group, including tools, methodologies, data, and skills development
  • Support the development of senior Business Development leadership and talent at both group and country level
  • Drive visibility of pipeline, performance, and progress against growth objectives through clear reporting and governance
  • Foster a collaborative, low-ego commercial culture focused on execution, client value, and sustainable growth
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Significant senior-level experience in business development, growth, or commercial leadership roles, ideally within professional services, consulting, or advisory environments
  • Strong track record operating in international, multi-entity organisations, with complex stakeholder landscapes
  • Experience within private equity-backed or high-growth environments is highly desirable
  • Pragmatic, hands-on leadership style with the ability to move between strategy and delivery
  • Strong change management capability, particularly in integration or transformation contexts
  • Excellent communication skills, with the credibility to operate at senior leadership level across multiple countries
  • Demonstrates a collaborative leadership style and operates effectively in complex, international environments
  • Fluency in English is essential; additional European languages are an advantage
Additional notes
  • This role can be based in any European country where CompanionCo operates (Belgium, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany or Spain)
  • Employment will be via the local firm, with costs recharged to CompanionCo
  • This role involves regular European travel, with flexibility around planning and scheduling wherever possible

CompanionCo values diversity of thought, background, and experience and welcomes applications from individuals who bring an inclusive mindset and different perspectives.
