Job summary

Community Healthcare Assistant - Adult Community Nursing

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated, and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant who is passionate about delivering high-quality care within a community setting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Brighton and Hove community Nursing teams, supporting patients in their own homes and local community.

This position is ideal for:

  • Individuals seeking to start a career in healthcare.
  • Existing Band 3 Healthcare Assistants who wish to develop their clinical knowledge and practice within a community environment.

Community or healthcare experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. You will gain skills in:

  • Insulin administration
  • Wound care
  • Clinical observations
  • Venepuncture

Main duties of the job
  1. To undertake non-complex clinical procedures under the guidance of senior team members, e.g. venepuncture, patient specific sub-cutaneous injections, sample collection, blood pressure monitoring, medications, wound care, catheter care and other tasks according to training and competencies. To recognise their responsibility and accountability in accepting the delegated task.
  2. Empowering patients to regain their health and independence in collaboration with other members of the Multi Professional Team.
  3. Liaising with clients, colleagues, family and other professionals in ensuring integrated quality care is provided.
  4. To keep accurate, timely records according to Trust policy.
  5. To escalate and report patient progress/status on a shift-by-shift basis to senior team members.
  6. To demonstrate flexibility and adaptability working across community teams according to service needs.
  7. To commit to undertaking training and education to progress clinical skills as indicated by service development needs.
  8. To respond effectively and actively to complaints and escalate appropriately following departmental policies.
  9. To assist registered staff in care and treatment and participate in the review process.
