Job overview

Sherwood Forest Hospitals have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Pharmacy Technician to take on a key leadership role within our Pharmacy Stores and Distribution team. This pivotal post is responsible for the effective management and co‑ordination of the procurement, safe storage, and compliant distribution of medicines across the Trust and to external clients, in line with Good Distribution Practice (GDP).

This is an excellent chance to step into a leadership position within a supportive, forward‑thinking department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely supply of medicines to support high‑quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the pharmacy stores at King’s Mill Hospital
  • Lead, support, and develop the Pharmacy Stores & Distribution team
  • Manage stock control, ordering processes, and distribution pathways in accordance with GDP
  • Ensure medicines are stored, handled, and transported safely and compliantly
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across pharmacy, nursing, and wider clinical teams to ensure medicines are available where and when they are needed
  • Support the safe and timely administration of critical medicines across the organisation

Knowledge Requirements
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations
  • Advanced IT skills
  • Specialist expert knowledge of pharmaceutical technical practice and experience to an equivalent degree level
  • Specialist knowledge of MHRA Wholesaler Dealer’s Licence requirements and Good Distribution Practice
  • Knowledge of pharmacy ordering and invoicing systems
  • Knowledge of pharmacy distribution systems
  • In-patient dispensary procedures
Qualifications
  • NVQ 3 in Pharmaceutical science or equivalent qualification accepted by General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Council for registration purposes
