Overview

MCS Group is working with a leading organisation within the banking sector who are looking for an experienced Product Owner to join their growing technology function on a 12 month contract. This is a hybrid role based in Belfast, offering the opportunity to work on high-impact digital products within a fast-paced, Agile environment. You will be joining as part of a new large programme of work and playing an integral part in delivery. As Product Owner, you will be responsible for maximising the value of one or more products by translating business needs into clear, prioritised requirements for delivery teams.

The Role

• Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring it is well-defined, prioritised and aligned to business value.
• You will work closely with stakeholders, delivery teams, and Scrum Masters to ensure outcomes align with strategic objectives and customer needs.
• Act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and Agile delivery teams.
• Define product vision, goals and roadmaps in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives.
• Make informed decisions to balance scope, time, quality and risk.
• Ensure delivered solutions meet regulatory, security and operational standards typical of a banking environment.

The Person

• You will have proven experience working as a Product Owner within an Agile/Scrum framework.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable user stories.
• Experience working in or with banking or financial services environments is highly desirable, but not essential.
• Comfortable working in a regulated environment with multiple dependencies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborative, Agile-driven culture.
