More detail about the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join the Physiotherapy service working at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation trust (RDUH – Eastern services). We have vacancies on our Band 5 rotational programme and are keen to receive applications from Physiotherapists who are currently working in registered roles and from undergraduates due to qualify in the summer of 2026.

This rotational role will allow successful applicants to develop their clinical skills and reasoning through working across acute and community settings, facilitating the completion of a preceptorship programme where appropriate.

Specialities include, acute respiratory medicine, ICU, neurology (including stroke), general medicine, surgery, T&O, health for older people, MSK outpatients and community rehabilitation. Effective communication, competent assessment skills, sound knowledge of the hospital discharge process and a patient‑centred approach to Physiotherapy must be possessed by the applicant.

Whilst the successful applicants will frequently be expected to work as autonomous practitioners there will be strong links with the multidisciplinary team working in the hospital. There will also be opportunities to work closely with senior therapists to enable continued professional development.

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation trust (RDUH – Eastern services) is a welcoming Trust, focussed on valuing a person’s differences and encouraging them to grow and flourish in their role in healthcare. This post carries an expectation to work flexibly over 7 days, including weekends, bank holidays and on the on‑call respiratory rota. Some of the rotations require shift working and long days up until 8pm. It is essential that the applicant has a valid UK driver’s licence and has access to a road worthy vehicle for use at work.

Working Pattern:Between 08:00 - 20:00 (hours vary with rotation)

Interview Date:Friday 6th March 2026 (face to face only)
