Job summary
A secondary school in Buckinghamshire is seeking a Cover Supervisor to manage classroom activities in the absence of the teacher. No formal teaching qualifications needed, but candidates must have a valid DBS check and either a relevant degree or experience as a cover supervisor. Cover supervisors are essential unqualified cover teachers who are able to take the responsibility of the full-time class teacher if the full-time class teacher is absent.
Academics is working with a fantastic secondary school in Amersham, Buckinghamshire.
- Expected to oversee pre-set lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher. (no planning, marking)
- Need to be able to quickly build rapport with students, have good behaviour management skills, and be willing to cover a range of subjects if necessary.
- Not be required to deliver the lesson itself but you must ensure the pupils are on task and complete the work set by the teacher.
- Need to manage behaviour in line with the school policy so you must be confident and have a strong, firm, but fair approach.
- You would need to have a Valid and up to date DBS or on the update service
- Possess a degree OR have previous experience as a cover teacher / cover supervisor
