Category: Medical Affairs

Location: Exeter, South West, GB

Help shape local medical strategy and scientific exchange across South West England by leading regional medical advisory services that improve care for people living with metabolic disease.

Your new role

As Regional Medical Advisor (RMA) you will lead the development and delivery of local and regional medical advisory services for metabolic healthcare professionals (HCPs), in support of short-, medium- and long-term local and national business needs. You will ensure HCPs understand the scientific basis and clinical usefulness of our compounds by providing high-quality, non-promotional medical and scientific support aligned with Novo Nordisk Medical, Clinical and Commercial strategies.

Day-to-day your tasks will include:

  • Gain, report and support analysis of medical insights on unmet needs of people with metabolic diseases, HCPs, and local health systems to inform Metabolic Medical Affairs strategy.
  • Share environmental and competitor intelligence and contribute insights to the medical management team and cross‑functional project groups.
  • Provide medical input and support to local clinical research activities, identify potential trial sites and support investigator‑sponsored studies.
  • Identify, contact and build relationships with HCPs, ORDMs and major institutions, act as a credible local scientific representative for Novo Nordisk.
  • Deliver high‑quality scientific education and training to HCPs, facilitate advisory boards, and contribute academically as required.
  • Lead the development and execution of local symposia, educational events and scientific support for local business activities, ensuring full compliance with relevant codes.
Your new department

You will be part of the UK Metabolic Medical Affairs team within the Diabetes & Obesity Business Unit and the broader Medical Affairs function. Our team works closely with Clinical, Commercial and Learning & Development colleagues to deliver scientific excellence and local implementation of national strategies that improve patient outcomes.

Your skills & qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should:

  • Hold a relevant scientific or clinical qualification (Medical degree, PhD, Pharmacy or equivalent). Post‑graduate medical qualification is desirable.
  • Prior clinical, academic or industry experience in metabolic disease (obesity, diabetes, endocrinology or a related discipline) and experience in the pharmaceutical industry would support success in the role.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to build networks and influence HCPs and stakeholders.
  • Have knowledge of UK healthcare systems, clinical trial methodology, GCP and drug development principles.
  • Be adaptable and able to manage complex tasks in a changing environment while maintaining patient focus and scientific integrity.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
