The Assistive Technology Team is an essential part of the wider Special Educational Needs Support Services (SENSS) in Oxfordshire. You will join a well‑established team that is highly regarded by educational settings and other services and organisations.

We provide specialised, multidisciplinary advice and solutions involving Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to children and young people with severe disabilities and complex needs. The team helps to give children and young people access to mainstream education; it is an important role!

About the Role

We are seeking a technician with superb skills in IT and a calm, positive and ‘can-do’ attitude to provide technical support to the specialist Assistive Technology and Vision Impairment teams in SENSS. This will includesupport for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). (Please see the job description for full details.)

About you

Always learning:

You have a good level of basic education (e.g. Grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent) and at least a Level 3 vocational qualification (e.g. National Diploma / NVQ3) or equivalent professional experience.

You will have technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows based operating systems, MS 365 Tenancy, Apple Business Manager ABM, Mobile Device Manager MDM, Domain Management, iPad Configuration, and familiarity with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) software and hardware, and practical experience of providing technical support ideally including servicing and repairing IT equipment.

You will have the ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately with colleagues and other professionals as well as children, young people and families. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be resilient, creative, adaptable, empathetic and compassionate.

Working closely with specialist teachers, the AT support worker, mainstream staff and other professionals to improve outcomes, your aim will be to provide effective ICT and AAC support to enable children and young people access to the curriculum and to facilitate full inclusion.
