A charitable organization in Leicester seeks a Fundraiser and Trustee to help raise awareness and influence policy for individuals affected by Selective Mutism. As a vital member of the Management Committee, you will develop fundraising strategies and support our mission to enhance public education and awareness. This volunteer role offers flexibility and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
SMiRA is seeking a Fundraiser to join our Management Committee and act as a full Trustee, helping to raise awareness and influence policy for Selective Mutism.
What difference will you make? As a Trustee, you will play a crucial role in steering the charity’s direction, working closely with other Trustees and the SMiRA Coordinator. You will provide fundraising expertise and support our mission to help individuals with SM, their families, and professionals worldwide.
The Management Committee meets around six times a year via Zoom, plus the AGM. The average time commitment is 1–3 hours per week in addition to meetings.
SMiRA, registered as a charity in 1992, aims to provide information and support to those affected by Selective Mutism, and to advance public education through research and awareness campaigns. As a Fundraiser/Trustee, your key tasks will include:
Selective Mutism (SM) is an anxiety-based mental health disorder that can severely impact children and adults. Without treatment, SM may persist into adulthood and lead to additional disorders such as Social Anxiety and Depression. Early treatment is often highly effective.
SMiRA is run by a Management Committee of twelve voluntary members who share control and legal responsibility. Our community has over 24,000 members worldwide and has a significant impact as a small charity.
