We are looking for a vibrant, confident communicator to help us spread the word about the well-being benefits of personalised music listening for people living with dementia and those who care for them. Your passions for music, social media, blogging, and content creation will help grow our online presence. You will help us connect with 1,000 families to use the Music for my Mind Playlist Maker and gather their feedback on its usability and effectiveness. We are looking for someone who can commit to a minimum of 5 hours a week, more if possible. There is no office, so this is a fully remote role.

Music touches so much of life that a particular song can bring back memories or clear visions of the past. And there’s growing evidence that music can improve quality of life for people living with dementia and memory loss.
Music for my Mind is a charity that exists to improve the well-being of people living with memory loss and dementia and their family, friends, and care-providers, using personalised music playlists. Working to achieve this, we created a free-to-use Playlist Maker app which automatically generates a playlist of favourite music in around 15 minutes. It is free and easy to use, at home or in any care setting.

Practical Considerations: Ideal skills you'll need

• Excellent written, communication and content creation skills

• Understanding of social media and experience posting on FB, Threads, X, LinkedIn and Instagram

• Working knowledge of WordPress and Canva (or other graphic design tools for content creation)

• Knowledge of SEO, analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads is helpful but not essential

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Ability to work independently and take initiative - personal drive, energy, integrity, flexibility and responsibility

• A general “good egg” with a can-do attitude

Requirements: Will require a criminal record check (DBS)

What difference will you make?

• Highlighting our news, projects, successes and campaigns, elevating our social media communication will help raise awareness of the transformative effects of personalised music for people with dementia or memory loss.
• You will have a significant impact on MFMM’s ability to reach and support more families affected by dementia and memory loss, helping to improve wellbeing, reduce anxiety and depression, and reconnect over their favourite music.
• Directly contribute to establishing MFMM as the go-to online portal for creating playlists to help someone living with dementia, increasing credibility and reach.

What will you be doing?

• Create and schedule (via Hootsuite) visually appealing and engaging organic and paid campaign content for MFMM’s Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads, and X accounts and respond where appropriate.
• Brainstorm strategies to increase social media following and broaden our reach.
• Create and update website content (including writing blogs) to enhance user experience.
• Identify potential influencers/celebrities to partner with the charity.
• Contact prospective Playlist Maker users on the Join Dementia Research platform to invite them to test the App.
• Work with the Programme Manager on updating and managing the MFMM music catalogue.
• Support the Research Assistant on current research projects.
• Other administrative and ad hoc tasks as required by the team.
