Senior Backend Engineer (Golang)
Job summary
A leading technology firm is looking for a Golang Backend Engineer to design and implement new functionalities in a hybrid work environment based in London. Candidates should have at least 1 year of experience with Golang, a strong commitment to improving code quality, and the ability to collaborate across teams. The salary ranges from £75,000 to £95,000 depending on experience, with additional benefits. The role requires working three days weekly onsite at their London office.

- Strong experience writing thoroughly-tested and easily-testable code.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
Responsibilities
- Write high-quality, easily testable Go code.
- Champion automated tests, refactoring, and code reviews.
- Contribute to technical roadmaps and long-term strategies.
Skills
As a Golang Backend Engineer you will work within one of our multi‑disciplinary feature squads to design and implement new capabilities. You will be expected to improve code quality and provide well‑tested functionality that the business can depend on for success. Our API service layer is written in Go and follows a documentation‑first mindset.
- Code Development and Review
- Write high‑quality, easily testable Go code.
- Take refined user stories and break them into sub‑tasks.
- Champion automated tests, refactoring and code reviews.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Technical Strategy
- Contribute to technical roadmaps and long‑term strategies aligned with business goals.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation.
- Senior expertise in strongly‑typed languages with at least 1+ year of commercial experience using Golang.
- Product‑engineering experience solving customer problems and delivering on business goals.
- Strong experience writing thoroughly‑tested, easily‑testable code.
- Experience with data modelling, SQL/NoSQL databases and distributed, event‑driven systems.
- Excellent communication skills, able to influence and collaborate across teams.
- Ability to work three days a week onsite at our London office.
Hybrid London (33 Holborn, EC1N 2HT) – three days onsite. Salary £75,000 to £95,000 DOE + benefits.
