Job overview

Would you like to be part of welcoming and supportive multidisciplinary team who provide high standards of inpatient ward care and therapy to patients requiring rehabilitation, end of life care and/or complex discharge planning?

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Support Worker at Nelson Court Ward 2, you will be part of a multi-professional team providing high standards of care to our patients. You will maintain and promote patient independence and dignity to ensure each patient receives a positive experience.

  • Greet and receive patients, carers, and other visitors to the ward/department in a courteous and compassionate manner in line with
  • Trust values (includes receiving people via telephone and online). Act as a contact point when appropriate.
  • Orientate patients to the ward/department environment, providing appropriate information to them about facilities and services.
  • Attend ward meetings and contribute to discussions about improvement of patient care
  • Respond to informal complaints by patients, relatives, or carers during routine duties, in line with local policies and procedures andescalate concerns you are unable to resolve to an appropriate person.
  • Escalate immediately any concerns regarding patient care to a registered practitioner.
  • Maintain the patient’s comfort, dignity, and privacy at all times.
  • Provide patients with the fundamentals of personal care

Experience and Knowledge
  • Understanding of patient-centered care and the role of the HCSW.

DBS Checks

Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. By applying you are agreeing to this undertaking. If you are successful you will be asked to confirm if you wish to pay in one amount or in instalments. The charges are currently £27.38 for a standard check and £55.38 for an enhanced check.
