A veterinary clinic in the North East of England is looking for a certified surgeon for a 6-month fixed-term position covering family leave within their surgical team. Candidates with ECVS/ACVS board certification or residency are preferred. Responsibilities include providing clinical services, supporting the surgery team, and contributing to an emergency rota. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 6‑month fixed term contract to cover equal family leave within the surgical team at Wear Referrals. A long‑term permanent contract could potentially be an option following successful completion of the fixed‑term contract.
The applicant would preferably be a European or American board certified (ECVS/ACVS) surgeon; we will also consider candidates who have completed an ECVS/ACVS accredited residency. Our department currently comprises 2 orthopaedic and 2 soft tissue specialists, including associates who also hold Examiner and Professor academic positions. We have one full‑time surgery resident, two surgical interns and six rotating interns.
The hospital employs specialists in surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology, anaesthesia and oncology. We pride ourselves on a collaborative approach to investigations and care. We run EBVS approved residency programmes in small animal surgery, neurology, internal medicine and oncology. The hospital is equipped to a very high standard and provides excellent inpatient facilities with qualified RVNs and veterinary interns on‑site 24/7. Imaging includes computed radiography, fluoroscopy (C‑arm with digital subtraction and road‑mapping), ultrasonography and on‑site MRI and CT. Oncology offers a wide range of treatments including electrochemotherapy. The surgery department also boasts a brand new Storz 4K NIRF scope tower.
