An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Gastroenterology and Screening Directorate for a full-time Band 5 Clinical Audit Officer. Previous experience in undertaking audits and creating reports is essential.

The role involves supporting the Senior Management team and Clinical Leads to undertake audits within the Directorate, including audits to ensure compliance with JAG (Endoscopy) accreditation and Screening SQAS. The post holder will monitor and share the audit programme at departmental level and contribute to the Trust and Departmental clinical audit and effectiveness programme.

The post holder will work at both Brighton and Haywards Heath; the role is based at RSCH.

• To undertake and complete clinical audit projects in cooperation with the operational lead for the project.
• To develop specialty-wide project plans comparing current practice with evidence-based best practice, with emphasis on NICE guidelines, technology appraisals, and international procedures.
• Oversee the administration of audit programmes for national bodies such as SQAS and JAG; ensure data quality and submission by deadlines.
• Encourage patient involvement in clinical audit where value is added.
• Maintain relationships with other departments to keep abreast of national audit/governance developments and bring them to the Lead’s attention.
• Support the Endoscopy Lead to meet departmental Audit Strategies.
• Support Clinical Managers in undertaking necessary clinical reviews.
• Utilise outcomes data to improve service provision.
• Demonstrate knowledge of wider clinical governance issues.
• Attend specialty meetings as appropriate and support Governance Lead during Quality and Gastroenterology Governance meetings.

• Educated to A Level or equivalent
• Experience of working with complex data
• Experience in undertaking audits
• Organisational skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of SQAS and JAG

• Evidence of development to improve understanding of equalities issues
• Evidence of championing diversity in previous roles
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
