A maritime transportation company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Master to oversee vessel operations. Responsibilities include ensuring safety compliance, managing onboard teams, and overseeing environmental policies. Candidates must possess a Master's Certificate of Competency and other maritime qualifications. This full-time role operates on a 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off rotation, offering a dynamic working environment with responsibilities that extend beyond immediate duties. The Master has absolute command of the vessel and has overriding authority over all aspects of its operation, at all times. Notwithstanding anything contained in any manual or other company instruction, in case of emergency the Master shall take such action as in their judgement, is necessary for the protection of life, property and the environment. The Master may request the Company’s assistance as may be necessary.
The Master’s role demands a figurehead position, and you will need to support the Company and crew in all matters, even those that fall outside your immediate responsibility. You are expected to take responsibility and be held accountable for the vessel and crew under your charge.
The Master forms part of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group Vessel Replacement Project Team and will be required to attend meetings by invitation.
