Senior/Principal/Associate Civil/Structural Engineer

We are expanding our portfolio in the energy and industrial sectors and seek an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer to join our multidisciplinary Industry and Infrastructure Facilities team. The role involves leading the structural design of buildings in energy and industrial projects, mentoring team members, ensuring structural integrity, and optimizing designs.

The position is primarily office-based with hybrid working options, located in our offices in Manchester, London, Leeds, Chester, Southampton, or Bristol. Occasional travel to client and project sites will be required.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing structural engineering projects from conception to completion.
  • Following project delivery models such as FEED/FEL, DED, OE stages.
  • Designing and analyzing structural systems for energy and industrial facilities, including manufacturing buildings, substations, power stations, and infrastructure.
  • Conducting structural analysis and detailed design to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with standards.
  • Developing innovative engineering solutions to enhance performance and reduce costs.
  • Ensuring adherence to relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborating with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams.
  • Preparing technical reports, documentation, and proposals.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and supporting their development.
  • Staying current with industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Contributing to business development and tender activities.

Qualifications & experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status with IStructE or ICE.
  • Typically 7+ years (Senior/Principal) or 10+ years (Associate) of industry experience, especially in energy and industrial projects, including substation design.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations relevant to these sectors.

Skills and competencies:

  • Strong understanding of structural design principles, materials, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, TSD, Robot, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Technical expertise in structural engineering concepts.
  • Experience with data analysis and structural modelling.
  • Awareness of sustainability and energy-efficient design practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership and organizational skills.
  • Experience in resource and cost estimation, project planning, and client presentations.
