The Wonderfield Group has recently been purchased by Zensho Holdings, the leading food service company in Japan with a market cap of $5.5b and whose aim is to become the worlds largest food company, a position from which we can eradicate hunger and poverty from around the globe. We operate restaurants, factories, and thousands of sushi kiosks and have recently built a successful cut fruit business, Snowfruit. Combining this with the three businesses previously owned by Zensho, AFC, Sushi Circle and Sushi Take, results in annual sales of $2.5b and Ebitda in excess of $140m a year with an ambitious growth trajectory.

  • Completion of post-secondary education in an environment or sustainability discipline or related experience
  • Entry level position with 1-3 years experience in a sustainability role
  • Knowledge of environmental, social and governance issues combined with the capabilities to interpret these issues for Snowfox Group's business environment
  • Database management experience would be an asset, ability to review multiple data sets and collate, tabulate, and analyze and interpret results.
  • Previous experience in the Food and Beverage or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industries would be an asset.
  • Energetic, resourceful, hands‑on individual with a strong bias for proactive action and customer service
  • Strong ethics - a personal reputation for integrity and "above‑reproach" ethics
  • Excellent support planning, organizational, problem solving and project management skills

Reporting to the Group Chief Development Officer , the UK Sustainability Manager will assist in leading Wonderfields Group's sustainability initiatives within the UK for the YO! and Taiko Food brands. You will be an integral part in the evolution of the ESG strategies in this newly created role. This hybrid position based in the Greater London area, will see you working directly with the internal brand teams and external stakeholders in developing, supporting, and implementing the sustainability policy in the focus areas of: Responsible Sourcing | Plastics, Paper & Packaging |Food Waste Reduction |Green House Gas Emissions & Energy Use.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholder teams (Executive Teams, Supply Chain, Product Development, Marketing, Quality Assurance/Technical Operations) to support the development and implementation of sustainability efforts across the businesses.
  • Be the Sustainability Champion to improve knowledge within the organization and be the voice as business decisions are made in order to encourage change
  • Research or review regulatory, technical, or market issues related to sustainability, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations by working with government agencies, non‑profit organizations, and other stakeholder in regions where we operate
  • Facilitate the development of communication plans to ignite employee engagement and externally share the progress of the Group's ESG programs including the development of an annual sustainability report
  • Assist with the collection of relevant data to prepare regulatory and legislative reports related to Packaging/Plastics & Paper and Carbon Emissions & Energy Use
  • Assist with the implementation and management of the sustainability framework including the development, tracking, and reporting of the KPI's in the 4 key focus areas
  • Conduct current state assessment, research, and benchmarking to ensure that we are meeting our internal targets and identify gaps or opportunities for improvement
  • Review, support and liaise with internal teams for sales proposals, vendor RFP's customer proposals, inquiries, and reporting as it relates to sustainability
  • Manage data collection for packaging, waste, and carbon emissions (Scopes 1-3).
  • Support the delivery of ESG commitments to key retail partners (Tesco, Waitrose, etc.).
  • Coordinate sustainability communications and training across UK sites.
  • Maintain supplier sustainability compliance in line with the Group Supplier Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate with Group ESG and divisional teams to advance sustainability initiatives.
