Job description
Transmission Overhead Lines Technician

ScottishPower – Permanent, Full‑time, Salary from £37,560, Closing Date: 12th December 2025. Location: Motherwell, Scotland (Eurocentral, Motherwell. ML1 4UR).

Purpose

Ensure compliance with ESQC Regulations and internal inspection policies, improve network resilience, deliver Plant & Overhead Line Inspection & Maintenance, Capital Work Programmes, Faults and Emergency works on the Transmission system, provide accurate reporting, and oversee staff and contractors.

Responsibilities
  • Manage direct staff, including performance management, objective setting, daily planning, and coordination of work deliverables.
  • Develop trainee programs for Apprentices, Skills Seekers and Adult Craft Trainees.
  • Lead contractors and external teams on high‑voltage transmission tower maintenance and protective treatments.
  • Maintain health, safety and environmental compliance, supporting a zero‑accident culture.
  • Address non‑conformities from audits and deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Promote customer‑service standards, provide support, advice, coaching, and clear direction to team.
  • Provide supervisory cover for Team Leaders when required.
  • Identify and hand over urgent issues to appropriate parties, liaising with asset protection and customer enquiries.
Qualifications
  • Educated to ONC level or with relevant business experience and demonstrated technical competence in Transmission Operation & Maintenance.
  • Full valid driving licence, Site Management Safety Training / Safety Passport, and prior experience in work programme management, resource planning, leading and motivating a team.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety processes and experience of outage and resource planning.
  • Familiarity with IT systems and open to adopting new technologies for inspection and data capture.
