Technical & Compliance Engineer

Solidcor is a UK manufacturer of next-generation fire, smoke and security-rated door systems. Our products are designed, engineered and certified to the highest standards. As we continue to invest in innovation and product development, we are expanding our R&D team with a Technical & Compliance Engineer who will take ownership of all technical documentation, certification, controlled documents and regulatory compliance.

Role Overview

The Technical & Compliance Engineer will be responsible for the accuracy, integrity and governance of Solidcor’s technical documentation and compliance frameworks. This includes CAD drawings, product specifications, controlled document management, certification, testing evidence, regulatory oversight and involvement in new product development.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Documentation & CAD
  • Develop, update and maintain all technical drawings for fire, smoke and security-rated door systems
  • Produce high-quality product specifications, installation requirements and technical literature
  • Own controlled documentation processes including version control, release governance and change tracking
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with certification and relevant regulations
Certification, Testing & Compliance
  • Maintain all certification, approvals and testing evidence across Solidcor product lines
  • Track test reports, assessments, FOA documents and performance classifications
  • Liaise with testing laboratories and certification bodies for renewals, evidence gathering and queries
  • Ensure continuing compliance with EN, BS, UKCA and CE standards
Regulatory & Standards Monitoring
  • Monitor emerging regulations and standards relating to fire, smoke and security door systems
  • Communicate updates internally and support implementation of required changes
  • Ensure all documentation and product information remains fully compliant
R&D and New Product Development
  • Provide compliance guidance and documentation support to new product development projects
  • Prepare test plans, evidence strategies and certification pathways
  • Ensure designs are certifiable, test-ready and aligned to regulatory expectations
Internal Compliance Audits
  • Conduct 2–3 internal audits per year
  • Identify non-conformities and drive corrective actionsMaintain clear and accurate audit records
Controlled Documentation Governance
  • Maintain robust document control processes and audit trails
  • Ensure strict change control across all technical documents and specifications
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work with engineering, production, supply chain, QA and senior technical staff
  • Provide clarity on FOA requirements, installation conditions and test evidence

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/BEng or equivalent)
  • Experience in fire doors, passive fire protection or other safety-critical manufacturing
  • Understanding of fire, smoke and security testing standards
  • Proven experience in technical writing and document control
  • Knowledge of EN/BS/UKCA/CE standards relating to fire door systems
  • Exposure to certification bodies and test laboratories
